About Us

Wilder Walks provides expert guidance and immersive outdoor adventures to help build better backpackers for deeper nature connections. We lead adventures into environments that showcase the rich biological diversity of California.

Purpose

Deepen connections with nature

No matter how disconnected modern life can sometimes feel, human beings are inextricably linked with the natural world. Experiencing this relationship up close is emotionally powerful and can inspire us to minimize our environmental impact and help others to do the same.

Mission

Build better backpackers

A great way to feel connected with nature is to immerse yourself fully in it, and backpacking is perfect for this. It lets you experience different ecosystems and habitats at walking speed, and it simplifies life to the essentials by removing the barriers between yourself and the world around you. Wilder Walks helps you master the tools, expand your knowledge, and gain the skills to be a better backpacker.

Impact

Prioritizing people and planet.

Backpacking is one of the lowest-impact forms of travel, but it’s not zero. So we minimize our impact in every way. This includes selecting durable and repairable gear made from responsible companies, and creating low-carbon menus made from bulk vegetarian ingredients whenever possible. We offset 100% of the carbon emissions we can’t avoid. These are the costs of doing business, so they’re baked into the price you pay.

Additionally, at least 5% of your trip cost goes to our non-profit partner:

Big City Mountaineers

Big City Mountaineers provides transformative experiences through connections to nature that strengthen life skills and build community for youth from disinvested communities. They do this by providing day hikes, overnight camping trips, and fully-outfitted backpacking expeditions.
